Với tham vọng đưa series Need For Speed lên 1 tầm cao mới, EA và Black Box đã hợp tác với nhau để cho ra đời Need for Speed: The Run, phiên bản được ví như 1 bộ phim hành động đúng nghĩa của Hollywood. Hoàn toàn không khoa trương 1 chút nào, tựa game này đã mang đến những trải nghiệm hết sức thú vị cho cộng đồng game thủ, nhất là với những fan hâm mộ thể loại đua xe.
Kịch tính, gay cấn và không kém phần quyết liệt, Need for Speed: The Run đong đầy những cung bậc cảm xúc của Jack, 1 tay đua đường phố cá tính. Số phận đã vô tình biến anh trở thành mục tiêu săn đuổi của cả cảnh sát và xã hội đen. Để sống sót, Jack phải trổ hết tài nghệ của mình trong suốt chặng đường dài rong ruổi khắp ngóc ngách trên đất Mỹ đồng thời hoàn thành những nhiệm vụ chủ tuyến được phân bổ đều đặn.
Được kỳ vọng sẽ tạo nên bước ngoặt nhưng có lẽ Black Box đã không dám mạo hiểm với Need for Speed: The Run. Thật vậy, gameplay dù có nhiều tính huống “phi đua xe” nhưng đều lặng lẽ xuất hiện và biến mất 1 cách chóng vánh. Chẳng hạn, ở màn chơi đầu tiên, bạn sẽ điều khiển Jack thoát khỏi sự truy sát của “bố già”. Nhưng đừng trông mong sẽ có 1 cuộc đấu súng kiểu Grand Theft Auto hay Saints Row, điều duy nhất bạn cần làm ở thời điểm đó là bấm đúng theo các phím chỉ dẫn xuất hiện trên màn hình. Tuy vậy, bỏ qua sự “rụt rè” đáng tiếc đó, có thể thấy Need for Speed: The Run đã đáp ứng hoàn hảo gần như tất cả yêu cầu với 1 tựa game đua xe đường phố. Những màn rượt đuổi nảy lửa, những pha ép xe ấn tượng, ….tất cả đã làm nên 1 phiên bản thật sự xuất sắc trong series Need For Speed lẫy lừng này.
Need for Speed: The Run có khá nhiều nét mới, điển hình ở những pha xả súng “như cơm bữa” của bọn xã hội đen. Điều này vô tình khiến cho cuộc chơi trở nên khó khăn và thú vị hơn rất nhiều. Bên cạnh đó, với góc quay camera hợp lí, game thủ có cảm giác như mình đang thực sự hòa mình vào “bộ phim” hành động đầy ấn tượng do Black Box làm “đạo diễn” này.
Ở khía cạnh đồ họa, Need for Speed: The Run đã khẳng định được sức mạnh của engine cao cấp Frostbite 2. Thật vậy, game có hình ảnh cực kỳ chân thật và sắc nét với những đoạn video mê hoặc lòng người. Ngoài ra, thiết kế ngoại cảnh với màu sắc chi tiết, sống động và bám sát thực tế cũng góp phần làm cho Need for Speed: The Run trở nên ấn tượng hơn.
Tóm lại, Need for Speed: The Run xứng đáng là 1 “siêu phẩm” để chúng ta chờ đợi
