Đây là một game hành động/chiến đấu đặt trong bối cảnh thế giới thần thoại song Zeno Clash lại cho phép game thủ chơi dưới góc nhìn người thứ nhất. Điểm nhấn làm nên phong cách của game chính là bạo lực và máu lửa.Cốt truyện của game khá sâu sắc, người chơi sẽ vào vai Ghat, con trai của một sinh vật lưỡng tính tên gọi là Father-Mother. Những đứa con của sinh vật này hợp thành bộ tộc mạnh mẽ nhất trong thành phố Halstedom.
Ghat không chấp nhận gia đình như vậy, anh cố gắng thoát khỏi chính ngôi nhà của mình và khởi đầu một cuộc hành trình mới, với người nữ cộng sự Deadra. Hai người phải vượt qua biết bao sự nguy hiểm trong suốt vùng đất Zenozoik.
Hệ thống chiến đấu dưới góc nhìn người thứ nhất không hề làm giảm đi giá trị “hành động” của game. Lý do là Zeno Clash giới thiệu hệ thống cận chiến mới với những đòn đánh liên hoàn, những cú đấm móc ngoạn mục, hoặc ngay cả những pha “ôm”, “vật” đúng kiểu Judo.
Đồ họa của game đạt mức “trên cả tuyệt vời” khi được ứng dụng engine nổi tiếng trong Half Life 2: Source. Phong cách nghệ thuật chưa từng có trước đó mang lại cảm giác tươi mới cho bất kỳ ai chơi thử game. Môi trường xung quanh kỳ dị và ma quái khiến cho người chơi luôn phải tò mò và đi khám phá khắp nơi.
Chế độ chơi độc đáo “Kẻ sống sót cuối cùng trong tháp”: Người chơi sẽ phải đối phó với hàng đống kẻ thù tấn công dồn dập thông qua các tầng tháp. Game sẽ đánh giá điểm dựa trên sự thể hiện và tốc độ của game thủ.
Những vũ khí “quái đản” cũng là một phần đáng chú ý trong Zeno Clash. Bạn sẽ thấy hàng tá thứ vũ khí được tạo nên từ… sắt vụn và phế thải, tất nhiên, búa và chùy vẫn sẽ góp mặt, tạo nên phong cách quen thuộc cho các game thủ khoái hành động.
